Matcha Minis: A Brand Activation for Nippon

The classic with a new twist: in summer 2026, Nippon’s iconic puffed rice snack is hitting shelves in a limited-edition Matcha flavor. The perfect opportunity to bring the brand directly to the community and turn a new taste experience into something people could discover for themselves.

The Japan Day in Düsseldorf was the perfect stage. Nippon has always drawn inspiration from Japanese culture – not least through its name. The launch of the new Matcha Edition offered the ideal opportunity to bring this connection to life in a place where thousands of visitors come together every year to celebrate Japanese culture.

For the activation, we developed a distinctive creative approach that put the limited edition front and center. Concept, storyline and design elements reflected the character of the product and came together as a cohesive mini-campaign. The result was an eye-catching activation that brought the Nippon brand world to life while remaining efficient to execute.

While matcha fans already love its distinctive flavor profile, first-time tasters often only need one positive experience to overcome reservations and turn curiosity into enthusiasm. The key moment isn’t about explaining the taste – it’s about trying it. This insight formed the basis of the Matcha Minis activation.

Taste & Rate – With the Community, for the Community

At the heart of the activation was a live tasting of the new Matcha Edition. Visitors could try the product on-site and share their immediate reaction – a low-threshold, interactive touchpoint that made genuine responses and authentic taste impressions visible.

The format was also designed with content creation in mind: carefully staged UGC moments generated natural, authentic footage that captured both the atmosphere of Japan Day and the community’s response to the new edition.
